The collective human is unhappily choked with weeds of conflicting misconception. A determined process of Clearing the Ground is necessary in order that we:-
Ordered by their leaders and superior officers, probably implanted with fear or blind hatred, members of the SS, the KGB, the Khmer Rouge, the Hutu and Tutsi tribes, the Serb army and many others have raped, tortured, mutilated, murdered and otherwise deprived, degraded and humiliated millions of people.
Their behaviour is out of character - it is not in true human nature to behave this way.
The society of today is much more open than it was. We try to make tyrants responsible for their misdeeds. We aim to impose morality on the world. But the only answer we could make to Serb atrocities was to bomb Serbia.
What lesson is to be learned from this? That the amoral character of our society, and the pressure it brings to bear, causes individuals to behave immorally rather than to faithfully follow their moral conscience.
If we are to be happy and at peace - to find humantruth in a humantrue world society - we need to make big changes in the shape of our society but first, to prepare the way, must come big changes of mind.
All those atrocities were carried out by people with consciences; people who reckon to know the difference between right and wrong but who persuaded themselves at the time, one way or another, because of the traumatic circumstances in which they found themselves, that to do these things was right, or at least excusable.
That we, personally, have a moral conscience and a strong sense of right and wrong is not enough if it is not faithfully reflected in our world society - it is not possible to be truly moral in an amoral framework of life.
That is why mind change is vital. Difficult though it is, we must go against the present social norms and adopt truly intelligent values and principles.
