Br9 SANITY for HUMANITY
Outline Initial Rules and Moral Precepts, subject to discussion and expansion.
These rules and precepts, some of which have already been partly implemented by the year 2000, were picked at random with the idea of stimulating discussion. Pressing for the imposition of such purely moral precepts on amoral Machine-reality is something positive we may do pending the establishment of a humantrue reality in which they will go without saying.
- No country or authority shall be permitted to carry out attacks which pose a risk of death or injury to any civilian or civilians of another country, or which damage the infrastructure upon which its people depend.
2. No country or authority may impose sanctions that blockade supplies which are essential to the health and well-being of another country's population.
3. Recognition shall not be extended to any leader who has not been freely and genuinely elected by the liberated population of his/her country. Such a leader shall be ostracised by the rest of the world which, until the situation changes, shall not trade with his/her country excepting to provide the population's basic needs.
4. Any leader in whose name harm is caused to his/her own or other people shall be similarly ostracised, tried in absentia and condemned to imprisonment and/or other punishment.
5. All weapons of mass destruction to be outlawed. To ensure complete compliance the UN Weapons Inspectorate should have free access to all countries, including the USA.
6. This means that true morality must always be put before all other interests, commercial, political, national, racial, religious. It also means that humanity be content to put its trust in its individual humans, who are the true custodians of morality, not to rely on power and money struggles between amoral institutions.
Peace shall be achieved when every single individual refuses to contribute in any way to war or man's inhumanity to man, but were these six points to be implemented, we would have begun laying part of the foundations of a new deal for humanity and its world. To the realist, such a world is a Utopian dream. In fact, it is common sense. By contrast, to honest intelligence the overall reality which presently dominates us is a nightmare.
We still live in a world in which finance and brute force take precedence over true reason - insanity over sanity. Although endowed with untold intelligence, with intense sensitivity, with deep appreciation of beauty, with the ability to put good before evil, and with the wish to bring our capacity for love, compassion and kindly concern to the forefront of our lives - despite all that we allow pride, greed, lust, ambition, hate, ignorance, lying and deceipt to govern us.
